For years, women who exercise have had a misconceived fear about how strength training with weights would change their body. The reality is that not only does resistance training build muscle, but it can also be an extremely effective way to burn calories making it beneficial for everyone, especially for women. Making her 2nd appearance on All About Fitness, Artemis Scantalides, recently named by Shape Magazine as one of the top trainers to follow on Instagram, talks about her recent cross-country move, how she got started in kettlebell training, her first powerlifting competition, what it's like to be a strength coach for the performers of Cirque du Soleil and her workshop, 'I am Not Afraid to Lift' about the benefits of strength training for women. As Artemis and I discuss, women should embrace strength training because of the many benefits it can provide - FOLLOW THIS LINK to read Artemis' point of view about women and strength training.
Note: Artemis and I have known each other for a number of years; she is an amazing example of someone who has followed her passion to create a career helping others to improve their lives - if you want to hear about how she got started in fitness then check out our conversation on episode 12 of the All About Fitness podcast.
