Media and popular culture have inundated us with images of lean, muscular bodies meant to represent fitness. The irony is that in the dictionary definition of fitness there is absolutely no mention of appearance - the definition is all about the ability of an organism to adapt, survive and perform which means that maybe we need to rethink how we communicate the image of fitness.
Louise Green is a Personal Trainer out of Vancouver, BC, Canada who focuses on helping plus-sized individuals improve their fitness. Louise wrote the book "Big Fit Girl: Embrace the Body you Have" and has become an important influencer on Instagram. On episode 103 of All About Fitness Louise explains why she got into fitness, how the fitness industry could do a better job of working with plus-sized individuals and shares her message that fitness is about ability, not appearance!
